Los Angeles, CA, September 1, 2026 — ProgCore, LLC and GUNGNIR Entertainment today announced a distribution partnership and the formation of ProgCore Press, a fantasy and roleplaying games publishing imprint as part of GUNGNIR’s publishing family.

Since 2023, GUNGNIR has focused on superhero, science fiction, and fantasy storytelling across books, graphic novels, and other media. ProgCore Press will expand that to include original dark fantasy and sword & sorcery IP and stories in books, graphic novels, and roleplaying games. This expansion of genre increases GUNGNIR’s market opportunity, and gives ProgCore access to world class marketing and the entire GUNGNIR distribution network, recently expanded through an agreement with Macmillan Publishers.

“Discovery is forever the enemy of independent art,” said ProgCore co-owner Nett. “With five books, a documentary series, an animated short, two albums, a podcast, and more planned for the next few years, we’re great at making beautiful things on indie budgets. But getting word about our art to the people who will enjoy it is a huge challenge. The partnership with GUNGNIR gives us the marketing and distribution reach to get our books in front of audiences everywhere.”

ProgCore Press’s first offering through the new partnership is ProgCore Fantasy: Dark Age of Theer, by Todd Stashwick & David Nett. Part of ProgCore’s successful multimedia crowdfunding campaign in 2024, Dark Age of Theer is a 300 page resource for everyone who plays fantasy roleplaying games, featuring tips and advice for gamers, a detailed description of the original World of Theer, and more than 20 short stories set in Theer by scifi and fantasy luminaries such as Anjali Bhimani, Wil Wheaton, Terry Matalas, Cecil Castellucci, Marc Bernardin, Erol Otus, Jasmine Bhullar, and others. The book is hand-designed by Nett, with over 150 pieces of original art, including pieces from legendary fantasy artists Bob Eggleton, Erol Otus, and Julia Maddalina. A signed, limited, early edition of 150 copies sold out in days in March 2026. Initial distribution of this first edition to backers will begin this fall, with an expected retail release Spring 2027.

“GUNGNIR was built to kick doors open for bold creators and worlds that refuse to play it safe,” said GUNGNIR CEO Matt Medney. “Todd, David, and ProgCore speak that same language. ProgCore Press is what happens when two fiercely independent creative houses decide to make some noise together. Let’s get loud.”

GUNGNIR and ProgCore are already planning an eclectic set of additional offerings for 2027 and 2028, including a fantasy roleplaying game-themed cocktail book, a graphic novel and book of short stories set in Theer, and several adventure modules for popular TTRPGs such as Dungeons & Dragons and Shadowdark.

About ProgCore: ProgCore is a multimedia studio created by Todd Stashwick (Marvel’s VisionQuest, Star Trek: Picard, 12 Monkeys ) & David Nett (GOLD, Starter Kit) to mine the wonder, mystery, and danger of classic dark fantasy stories of the 70s and 80s, and adapt that vibe to tell modern stories without the prejudices (purposeful or inadvertent) endemic to the eras of their origins. ProgCore creates books, graphic novels, video, roleplaying game materials, music, art, and more. All our stories are handcrafted by humans with love for art and their craft, never by GenAI.
